Two Taverns and the pike still have older brick houses and farmsteads. Lake Heritage is a different stock: later homes around a private lake, many with block basements, walkouts, and finished lower levels that were sold as living space. The township is still Gettysburg-basin ground — red sedimentary rock and pockets of diabase clay — even where a lake community looks suburban. Yards around the lake can hold surface water after a thunderstorm. A walkout basement on the downhill side takes that water at the door, then the finished wall hides it until the baseboard stains.
